After reading the reading materials related to topic 2, which introduced the development of online teaching, I learned more about the course structure. Personally, even after a two-year period of online classes, I still struggle a bit with online learning. My personal preference is for face-to-face instruction, which allows me to better communicate more directly with the professor about points and information I don’t understand. Also, face-to-face teaching is more efficient when working in small groups. However, offline learning is completely controlled by the instructor, whereas online learning allows students to schedule their own learning time and track their progress effectively.

Online teaching is like a bridge to the world, giving more people access to learning, whether it’s across borders or across disciplines. I think about how I learned about music arranging through online courses because all I had ever learned was how to perform but I was personally interested in arranging, so I learned about arranging through online courses. Since it’s almost software and theory related, it’s more effective to teach online and I can learn and produce at home whenever I want.

Hi Jindi, I also like face to face learning, it makes communcation much easier, espeically for group works, even though theres more regulation on location and time, talking to others face to face is still the best way to collect ideas. Like you said, online learning provides more opportunities to people who really intereted in the course but have difficult to join the course as a formal student, online and open learning create a condition that overcomes the physical distance and academic requirements.

Hi, Jindi. I think the biggest advantage of online learning is that it can avoid the limitation of time and geography and help people get more information. However, it’s also really hard to concentrate on. In offline courses, people can focus on listening and discussion. But when studying online, people are free to use other social media.
In some cases, I think the commercialization of social media is to blame. On TikTok, for example, short videos attract viewers in the tens of seconds. It only takes a very short time for people to watch a whole movie or see the best of acrobatics. In the long run, people are not willing to spend more time to learn things slowly. So, I think it’s a big problem how to overcome this “high stimulation” attraction.

    Hi Jindi,
I agree where I also enjoy face to face learning, however, I think online has so many benefits to itself and allows generally anyone to join a course regardless of their location or time zone. there are benefits and set backs to both in person learning and online learning, neither will ever be perfect. having said that, I believe that if we gave the option to students, it would allow for everyone to chose their courses based on how well they learn, whether it is online or in person. This would give a timely freedom and opportunity for those students to grow individually while being educationally inclined and successful.
